The World Economic Forum (WEF) is a foundation based in the Swiss canton of Geneva. First and foremost, it is known for the annual meeting of the same name, which has been held every year for almost 50 years in Davos in the canton of Graubünden. More than 1000 member companies as well as politicians and representatives of science, non-governmental organizations, religion and the media gather for a five-day program in January or February each year to discuss current global issues such as international trade, poverty and environment. There are also many informal meetings, receptions and presentations.
